I would like to welcome you and your child to Discovery at Round Rock Christian Academy. I am beginning my ninth year teaching Discovery Advanced and Intervention, and my third year to teach middle school math at RRCA. Also, I am the soccer coach at RRCA and we have been district champs the last several years! Go ROCK!
As we start this journey together I would like to give you some background about myself and my family.
I was born and raised in Grosse Pointe, Michigan and graduated from the University of Michigan with a B.S. in Education, triple majoring in mathematics, science, and social sciences. My husband also graduated with from the University of Michigan with a B.S. and M.S. in Electrical Engineering. We are proud Wolverines! We met just before college at a social function between my all girls’ Christian high-school and his all boys’ Christian high-school. We celebrated our sixteenth anniversary this summer and thank the Lord for blessing our marriage.
I initially taught in Michigan as a middle school math teacher and then a third and fourth grade teacher. Then we moved to Texas, and I taught in Hutto for nine years as: a fourth grade teacher, math specialist, reading specialist, gifted and talented teacher, teacher leader/instructional coach, and math curriculum coordinator. During this time, I was selected and funded by the National Science Foundation to attend Southwest Texas State, now Texas State in order to attain a master’s degree in Mathematics Curriculum and Instruction. Additionally, I was given the opportunity to participate in two years of intensive training where I became a reading specialist and Instructional Coach/Teacher Leader from the Learning Network.
We have two wonderful children, both of whom attend RRCA. Allie is thirteen years old, plays piano, soccer, volleyball, basketball, forensics, and is in eighth grade at RRCA. Tony is nine years old, plays guitar, basketball, soccer, and is in fifth grade at RRCA. We are very blessed to have two wonderful and amazing children from God.
I am excited to have the opportunity to work with your child this year and help him/her achieve academic excellence in a Christ centered environment. I hope to make this a remarkable year. Please let me know how I can best serve you and your family.
God Bless,
Andrea Cermak
